As a DP, Jack incorporates sensitivity, empathy, and curiosity in his visual style to uphold the dignity of his subjects in even the most vulnerable of moments. In respecting the comfort of his subjects, he often values location over elaborate lighting setups, since for most folks, a large production would make them nervous. Capturing his subjects' most genuine and authentic selves is priority number one. New York Times photographer Jonah Markowitz has been a tremendous influence and inspiration to Jack's work both visually as an artist and ethically as a journalist.
